7-9 May – TF HTAP meeting – registration

Firstly, we are excited to announce that the next TF HTAP spring meeting will be in person. After four years of online-only meetings, the next TF HTAP spring meeting will occur at the Research Institute for Sustainability – Helmholtz Centre Potsdam in Germany (previously known as IASS Potsdam) from May 7-9, 2025. This will be a hybrid meeting, with the possibility of online participation for those who can’t make it to Potsdam. We will hold this meeting back-to-back with the Task Force on Measurements and Modelling (TFMM), another task force under the Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution, primarily focusing on regional modelling and measurements in the European region. We plan on holding a joint TF HTAP-TFMM session on May 7 to discuss areas of overlap between our two task forces. A full agenda will follow in due course.

Venue May 7, 2025:
RIFS Research Institute for Sustainability at GFZ
Ballsaal (Villa)
Berliner Straße 130
D-14467 Potsdam

Venue May 8/9, 2025:
WIS (Wissenschaftsetage Potsdam)
4th Floor
Am Kanal 47
D-14467 Potsdam

In this meeting we will discuss progress in the current HTAP work plan, as well as collect ideas for the future work of the task force. Topics to be covered include:

  • OPNS: Simulations of ozone, particles, and the deposition of nitrogen and sulphur in support of the revision of the CLRTAP Gothenburg Protocol.
  • Fires: multi-pollutant simulations of wildfire impacts on air quality
  • MCHgMAP: Simulations of Mercury trends and source attribution
  • Scoping discussions for a new activity on modelling of PFAS

This meeting will be immediately preceded by a meeting of the CLRTAP Task Force on Measurements and Modelling (https://emep-ccc.nilu.no/tfmm), and will include a joint session on Wednesday, May 7 for discussion of global-to-regional coupling of model simulations in the OPNS exercise. Registration for the TFMM meeting should be done separately via the TFMM website. Please register for the HTAP meeting here.

The event will be broadcast live via the Zoom application.
